Practical Nurse Training Program (PNTP)
The Practical Nurse Training Program (PNTP) offered by AUBMC Nursing Services is a fulfilling nursing career choice. It prepares the practical nurse (PN) candidate to become qualified in giving basic nursing care under the direct supervision of a professional RN and provides graduates certified to work for hospitals throughout the region.
Practical nurses are valuable both in the care of the sick and in providing health instruction to the patient as well. AUBMC’s PNs are noted for their good bedside manners; they are calm, positive, cheerful, comforting, compassionate, kind, and pleasant in attitude.
Education and Diploma The faculty and curriculum of the Practical Nurse Training Program abide by the overall philosophy of Nursing Services at AUBMC.

| Theory |
564 hours distributed over three trimesters. The courses include Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Body, Growth and Development, Introduction to Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, Ethics, Care of the Medical/Surgical Patient, Care of the Mentally Ill, Maternal and Newborn Care, Pediatrics Care. |
| Clinical |
1,140 hours distributed over four trimesters. Application of all theory on medical/Surgical units, critical care units, pediatric units, emergency unit, obstetrics units, and operating room units. |
| Candidates should: |
- Be over 17 years of age. - Have completed the Bacc 1 level of education. - Pass IET exam. |
| Candidates will: |
- Gain knowledge of basic nursing and patient care. - Receive a diploma approved by the Lebanese Ministry of Health. - Be given the opportunity to practice at AUBMC. - Become recognized members of the AUBMC healthcare team. |
Upon completion of the program, the PN will be qualified to:
- Give skilled bedside nursing care based on scientific principles in any of the health care fields, including surgery and critical care

- Assist the staff nurse in delivering care to patients with complex problems and in helping assess and diagnose the healthcare problems of patients of all ages

- Relate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team
|
- Apply a caring philosophy and communication skills based on sensitive and creative thinking.
| Nursing is a process that employs a body of knowledge that involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare, accompanied by recognition of the emotional, spiritual, social, and economic differences among individuals.
Pre-Admission Requirements As part of the application process, candidates are required to submit the following documents:
- 3 Photographs
- Photocopy of Lebanese Identity Card
- Police Record
- Official Photocopy Of Bacc.I ( Certificate & grades)
- Reference Letters from Previous School
- Health Clearance. (CBC, Urine Analysis)
- Entrance Exam (duration 3 hours)

| The application fee is LL 20,000 (non-refundable).
Program Costs The program is sponsored by AUBMC and qualified candidates who sign a contract are not required to pay any fees. Uniform and shoes are provided by AUBMC.
Benefits
- Holidays
According to the AUBMC holiday schedule, 18 holidays will be granted to student PNs. At the end of the training period, the student is also entitled to two weeks vacation. |
- Library Facilities

- Recreation
All facilities for recreation available to AUB students are also available to PN students. |
- Health and Counseling Services
As with all AUB students, health and counseling services are provided to PN students. |
